The Games Room has a full sized table-tennis table, table football, dartboard, jigsaws, games, TV with video and DVD player. One bookcase is devoted to the history of the area with an extensive library of WW1 and Hundred Years War reference books and guides, and another bookcase contains a full range of holiday reading. There is a sofa bed and a futon that can be used for additional sleeping when there are large parties staying. The Cellar opens off the hall and is useful for keeping really smelly cheeses and other food and wine cool. The downstairs WC also opens off the downstairs hall. ![]() The Courtyard which has brick planters with flowers, and a fig tree, is shut off from the outside world by two enormous wooden gates and so is completely private. There is access to the garden through the barn. It has its own micro-climate and is an absolute suntrap. There is enough room for younger children to ride their bikes and with the outside gates locked, the courtyard and garden provide a secure play area. The Swimming pool is fully enclosed by a wall and screen and has a locked gate. The heated pool is 10 x 5.2 metres and is kept clean by an electrolysis system rather than chlorine. There is a shower and ample seating area with the enclosed area which is a sheltered sun trap. The pool is normally available April - October. The Garden has a terrace with a table and benches and a lawn which is big enough for a game of cricket or five-a-side football. There is a weeping willow tree at one end which provides a wonderfully tranquil place to sit. There is a small orchard with fruit trees (help yourselves!) and a wild flower garden.
The Barns The largest barn opening off the courtyard has a full sized trampoline and a swing set on a bark base. The rest of the barn has a concrete floor and we have marked out a badminton court for rainy days. There is a selection of ride-on toys for younger children and there are two goal posts and nets for use in the barn or the garden. There are two other barns which both have concrete floors. The third barn leads into the garden and has an indoor shed which holds garden chairs, bats and balls, badminton nets and other garden games. |
