There are budget and charter flights from London Gatwick and other regional airports in the UK to Las Palmas airport on Gran Canaria. Las Palmas is a modern, user-friendly airport. Flight time is about 4 hours from London Gatwick.

The Canaries are in the same time zone as UK - which means if you time your flight right you can be sitting by the harbour at Puerto de Mogan having a late dinner after an afternoon flight from the UK.

There is a bus service from the airport to Puerto de Mogan but, if you are not hiring a car, we recommend taking a taxi. Taxis from Las Palmas airport cost around 60 euros for 3-4 people and luggage. As the House and Apartment are not accessible by car the taxi will drop you off by the village square, which is about 75 yards away. If you would like to pre-book a taxi from the airport through our local agent the cost is 50 euros.

Car hire is readily available and can be booked ahead for pick up at the airport. There is a good choice of vehicles including four wheel drives and convertibles. Car hire is also available at Puerto de Mogan and other resorts up the coast. There is plenty of parking in the town and a car park about 150 yards from the house.

You will be given full directions to the house before you travel and you will be met on arrival to be given keys and shown around the accommodation.

Weather

The weather report and forecast shown below and carried in the newspapers, is based upon the weather at Las Palmas in the north of the island. Puerto de Mogan in the south is separated by a mountain range and has a separate dry, warm and sunny climate, rarely raining even in winter. Puerto de Mogan is also sheltered from the winds which are a feature of the north of the island. The temperature difference is often 2-3 degrees warmer than Las Palmas. Average temperature ranges are from 18 -21 degrees in winter and 26 – 30 degrees in summer with a cooling breeze.

Water temperature rarely drops below 19 degrees in winter and is up to 24 degrees in summer. See the link opposite for a quick overview or click here for a detailed report, but again always expect it to be warmer in Puerto de Mogan!
